Anytime my Mom has an extra day off of school, she heads out of town to visit some of her grandkids. By this point, my brothers and I have come to the conclusion that my parents no longer travel to see us. We can honestly say, without any reservations, that our parents come to see our cute little spawns and my brothers and I are merely afterthoughts. However, given how obsessed each of our children are with their grandparents, we can't say our feelings are hurt in the slightest.
My parents came up for Martin Luther King weekend, and we spent the weekend shopping and eating out. However, most of the time was spent playing. I don't know how my Mom has so much energy. Maybe it's because she is surrounded by twenty five kindergartners all day and has figured out a way to absorb some of their energy or maybe she secretly pounds a Red Bull before she enters our house. All I know is the moment she walks through the door, Bryn has her going non-stop until she goes back to Monticello. And Grandma Steph, being the party animal that she is, is always up for a "dance party" in the front room, or a rousing game of "hide and seek."
While Bryn could run for days without batteries, Hudson gets a little more tuckered out and has to stop for naps. That is where Grandad comes in. Although he is always willing to do puzzles and play catch, Hudson knows he can always count on Grandad to lounge around on the couch with him.
Even lunchtime is more exciting with Grandma Steph around. Bryn actually willingly eats her vegetables all the time, but who doesn't like to lounge around while getting hand-fed by Grandma Steph? One might say the only thing missing from this photo is a servant fanning Her Royal Highness with a palm leaf. But don't you worry, she was right there. She just had to put down her palm leaf so she could grab the camera and snap this little picture.
