For the first twenty minutes, Brynlee was as dry as a desert cactus. Rather than running through the fountains, she would make a wide berth around them always with a big smile on her face. While I was busy trying to shield Hudson from the sun's rays, Grandma Steph took it upon herself to teach Brynlee the finer points of splash pad participation.
And then one time, Brynlee was unsuccessful at navigating the spray from one of the fountains. With a little nudge from Grandma Steph, she ran straight into a stream of water . After she stood there sputtering for a few minutes, Bryn realized that running through the fountains was much more fun than running around them. She spent the next hour shrieking, screaming and laughing as she ran through the water. She would pretend to eat it, swat at it, and after observing the older kids, decided that trying to sit on the fountains was also a grand idea. Grandma Steph was more than happy to join in the fun although she conveniently forgot her swimsuit.
And next year, this little man will be more than happy to get in on the action. But for now, Hudson was perfectly content watching the madness unfold around him while he stayed nice and cool in the shade.
