The final activity of this weekend extravaganza was an ugly sweater party. Originally, none of us were planning on participating. But the night before we left Salt Lake, Erin and Charlene took a trip to the local DI and found a treasure trove of hideous sweaters. Scott's, by far, was the most embarrassing, which is probably why he and Angela ducked out early using the excuse that they "had a long drive ahead of them." Although, in all fairness, Mark's turtleneck sweater and Charlene's snowman sweater vest, were pretty horrific in their own rite.
We spent the evening eating leftover pies, cookies, and grooving to all the latest tunes. Psy's "Gangnam Style" in particular had a cult-like following which included a bunch of 40 year old ladies performing the choreographed dance. Brynlee showed up wearing a bright lime green sweater, but quickly refused to wear it saying that it was "too itchy." Secretly though, I think she got rid of it because she didn't want to look like a giant gumdrop. Hudson, on the other hand, pretended to be asleep. He would rather attempt to sleep on top of a table rather than be associated with a bunch of ugly sweater-wearing, pie-eating, gyrating crazies.
We left the party, and then all headed back to the hotel rooms. Neal, Erin, and Nate headed to the lobby to try and get connected to a wireless network, so they could check all the deals for Black Friday. The fact that we were in the middle of nowhere, miles away from any store, did not stop them. I stayed in the room with the kids while the others hunted for bargains. In the end, I think the cumulative decision was that the time spent looking at Black Friday deals would have been better spent sleeping. The next morning we woke up and began our long drive back up to Salt Lake. It was nice to do a little something different for Thanksgiving this year.
