One For The Fridge

The past few years we would take family pictures with the beautiful fall leaves. This year, we decided to break tradition, and did a cold snowy picture for our family Christmas card. After much convincing, Nate agreed to take pictures after church while we were all dressed up. Something you might not know about Nate is that he LOVES to take family pictures. Ha ha. I couldn't even type that with a straight face. For Nate, taking family pictures lies probably somewhere between cheering for BYU and getting a colonoscopy on the Nate's list of The Most Unpleasant Activities Imaginable. But, thankfully, he loves me and will indulge me once a year by posing for a few family photos.

The kids and I tried not to freeze and complain too much while he worked to get the camera settings just right. And of course, Nate caught me in my best moments: telling Bryn to watch out for sticks, fluffing my hair, and trying to keep snow from dripping down Hudson's neck.

Once he got the lighting fixed, it took us a few shots to figure out the camera timer and make sure that none of our heads got decapitated all while trying to get the kids to look at the camera and smile. Not an easy fete by any means.

In the end, this is the one we went with. Watch your mailboxes because this photo will be one for the fridge. But then again, there is a good chance my Christmas card could very well turn into a New Year's card. . . or maybe even a Valentine's Day card.

And finally another outtake, which just so happens to be my favorite. Nate looks very GQ while messing with the timer, Bryn is perturbed, and I look like I jumped off the pages of a hair care ad. We were all happy to be done once it was all over. Nate is probably already dreading the day he has to go through this torturous ordeal once again next year.
